My mamaw had a pet pig and it was her friend until one day the unthinkable happend! TRUE STORY!
I am writing this story because I felt the need to share. Especially with those in my family who may want to read more about me when I am gone. My mother told me this story about my mammaw. This happened when they moved to a little town in Oklahoma. She and her brothers and sisters father had decided to get a pig and feed it, fatten it up so that he could feed the family. These are things that they did back in the day. People actually hunted for their own food instead of whole foods, trader joes or amazon fresh lol! My mother told me that during that time. My mamaw and her sibling loved and cherished that pig. The pig was also very intelligent and would play with them and even cuddle and sleep with them sometimes. Also it could do tricks just like a dog. Then one day Mamaw was outside on the farm, and she heard her mother and father talking about how they had to put the pig down so that they could eat for the next few months because it had actually gotten pretty big and fat. The pig now hog no longer a baby. To make a long story short, my mamaw was in tears and begged and pleaded with her daddy not to kill the hog. Her and her sibling were all so sad. When she woke up the next morning, she ran outside looking for her pet pig but could not find him anywhere. Her worst fear was coming true. So she ran into the barn, and there she saw her best friend butchered up and her mom preparing the meat to be cooked. My mom said my mamaw and her siblings lost it! Screaming and crying all day. This of course broke her father's heart and her mother's heart. No matter what he tried to explain, my mamaw wasn't having it, and it took her days to forgive him. My mom said that they even refused to eat the meat when they knew they were having pork. Her and the kids got pretty skinny because they already were poor and didn't have a lot of food to eat. This, my friends, is a true story. I was up thinking of my loved ones this morning who are not here anymore and some of the things I heard about them and what they went through. I hope you enjoyed this true story.
